I’ve known Carlijn now for more than 4yrs in the Dutch Lighting Market as a refreshing independent Lighting Designer, standing out from the crowd, with a passion for Lighting and a bigger cause – I can highly recommend her.

Carlijn heb ik tijdens de Light Challenge mogen ontmoeten. Als coach van team Almere die ze met veel passie heeft gecoacht heeft ze de Light Challenge 2015 gewonnen. Door haar vernieuwende ideeën vind ik haar een bijzondere lichtontwerper haalt ze het beste van alles in haar ontwerpen naar boven.
Ik ben er trots op dat Carlijn dit jaar zitting heeft genomen in de jury van de Light Challenge 2018.

Carlijn Timmermans has helped our student team IGNITE very much in professionalizing and developing our projects. As a team we develop interactive light installations by combining art and technology and within our design process Carlijn coached us with valuable feedback on our first prototypes, she provided an informative workshop on experimenting with different fixtures and she put us in touch with her network , which has brought us new opportunities and collaborations. Her efforts and knowledge have had a very positive influence on our team and our projects and we are very grateful for that!

Although Carlijn has been of great value for us in the field of lighting design for years, the collaboration became extra intensive during the design process of public lighting for the center of Nijmegen. Together with Richard Out she made the area analysis and the final lighting design. Clear communication about wishes and requirements to us. Flexible where possible, strict and to the point where necessary, always with the common goal of translating a beautiful lighting design into a beautiful lighting image with our Opalume 500 fixtures for steel wire span.

Carlijn is the ambassador for the Women In Lighting Project in The Netherlands and represents the project, women in lighting and the lighting design profession in general. She organises events to bring together the local community for networking and education. She is passionate about what light can do...

Carlijn has the passion for light and lighting, but more importantly is compassionate and understanding. Always fun to work with, she can view a challenge from many different perspectives and come up with workable solutions. She is professional and dedicated and works towards her vision of a better future for all.

I met Carlijn as coach of the winning team Almere during the Light challenge. On behalf of the municipality of Almere, I was the client and (co-)author of the competition document. She enjoyed guiding the young students and transferring her knowledge and vision. From residents' evenings to brainstorming and defending the results.
The winning design with the light rings has therefore been installed. Of course with Carlijn as security guard and project leader.
As a follow-up assignment, the light design Havenkom was deliberately awarded to Carlijn by the Municipality and not integrally to an urban planner or larger agency.
Her inspiring ideas, vision on light and darkness, perseverance and passion are clearly visible in the final result.
I hope that more clients will have the courage to involve smaller parties in assignments instead of the usual larger ones. Thinking out of the box and less in terms of frameworks is very refreshing.

I worked with Carlijn on the Havenkom project in Almere, where she made the design on behalf of the municipality and we realized it. Carlijn has an impressive eye for detail and does not stop until everything is exactly right.
What struck me about Carlijn is her dedication and ability to clearly convey her vision. This ensured that we were able to achieve a beautiful end result.

It was pleasant to work closely together and have regular contact to achieve this result. Carlijn is a professional and creative designer with whom it is a pleasure to work. I look forward to working together again on such projects in the future.

Thanks to good collaboration in the design process with C.Light.Wise, the redesign of the Havenkom (HOSPER landschapsarchitectuur) in Almere Haven has been enriched with a beautiful night view!
